Worried about a visit?

Most people show some apprehension before coming to a Dentist and for some this is a really big deal.  Whether this is because of a previous bad experience or any other concern I consider it my job to look after you once you have crossed the threshold.  This begins with the atmosphere within the Practice which many people find is very homely and not too clinical.  Sometimes it can be just one big fear, so tell me and we can discuss how best to overcome any difficulty.  My aim is that you will come to enjoy a visit to our very special Practice!

SEDATION:

I have two forms of sedation that can be used to help with overcoming your fears.  The first is called Relative Analgesia which is a gas and air mixture as carried in ambulances and used in maternity.  A small nose piece delivers the mixture and the effect is to make you feel warm and tingly and more carefree.  I think it is like having 3 or 4 drinks, your not drunk but definitely a little bit happy!  Particularly useful for those that can not have intra venous sedation and has a very quick recovery period.

INTRAVENOUS SEDATION

This is a lot more potent and is given through a vein in your arm.  I think the effect would be like ten or more drinks!  You remain conscious so can still help with opening etc. but you will remember nothing afterwards and without the hangover.

You must have somebody to accompany you home after both types of sedation and can not expect to drive or do important things for the rest of the day.
